A Space molded by contemplation, silently floating above the French countryside. Using reflection and material for camouflage and form to intimidate surrounding predators. Once inside, you’re immediately transported to the outside, except now you are safe, you are warm, you are protected.
By identifying the main focus of these spaces as external contemplation, the method quickly shifted to designing from the inner experience outward. In other words, the space is shaped by the inner contemplation of the surroundings, whatever the surroundings may be. Thus creating “Form through experience”.
The smaller space (64 m2), opens up horizontality creating a kind of amphitheater toward the outside. At the same time, a tree is gently framed by a glass cylinder creating a sculptural piece within the space. By vertically tilting the same module, a larger (100m2), multi leveled space is created maintaining the same design language. This time, characterized by vertically separating levels of intimacy.
A light wood material is used on the inside to create a warm feeling that doesn’t shift attention away from its surroundings. Meanwhile, on the outside, dark metal and mirrored glass helps the modules maintain a stealth like appearance that is mesmerized by the past…
The modules are arranged radially around the heritage site to ensure most prominent views.
