The typical approach to elongated plots with adjoining properties places the project at the front and the garden at the back. However, by shifting the space to the center, the house becomes a threshold between two gardens.
The social area—the most frequented space—is defined by an open void, framed by patios and the volumes that contain the more intimate spaces.
The design and consideration of empty space are just as important, if not more, than the built space itself.
